What in the World?
What in the world am I thinking? Why am I creating a blog? It's not like I have all the time in the world to sit and type stories every day. All I know is that there's something creative in me wanting to be released. I work in a somewhat "non-creative" job as a Commercial Loan Account Executive. (Fancy title, huh?) Now, don't get me wrong - I love my job, I love and appreciate the company I work for, and I have made many friends through the years. I have a very challenging job; one that takes a lot of mental capacity and often leaves me exhausted by the end of the day, but I'm not able to capitalize on my creative, artistic nature, except for perhaps coming up with an ingenious idea on how to restructure a loan. My creative side goes back to childhood when I would escape in books. I loved to read about young girls living in fancy houses and having tons of beautiful clothes. I escaped into those worlds I read about and grew up loving drawing and imaginative play. Some of my favorites were my paper dolls and my Barbies. With both, I could create new outfits and mix and match existing ones. Right up my alley! In my junior high school years, when guidance counselors begin to ask students, "What do you want to do when you graduate?," I always said I wanted to do something in fashion or interior design. That, however, didn't happen and I ended up with an Associate's Degree in Secretarial Science - a far cry from Fashion Designer or Interior Decorator! I have, though, put that degree to good use; ending up with a Master's Degree in Business Administration in 2008, I am now a Vice President with a decent salary. I feel completely blessed, because I feel that the path I'm on is the one that God planned for me. Perhaps I didn't always make the right turns at the right time, but every time I had to backtrack, He was right there redirecting my steps. So, what do I expect to get out of this blog? Perhaps a chance to release some creative energy with words. Perhaps an opportunity to look back over the life I've lived so far and rejoice in both the good and bad, because those moments helped shape the person I am today. A sort of therapy - if you will...and, most of all, the perhaps the opportunity to help someone else realize their own potential in whatever shape it comes in.
Thinking About Blogging
Everybody blogs these days - don't they? I decided I would try my hand in the blogging world. Why? I don't know - except I think I may have something interesting to say that somebody out there may care enough to read. I figure if I can help even one person think differently, act differently, or in some way help them, I have accomplished my task...so here goes....
